India has started Operation Abhyas 2025 in which civil defense drill is being conducted in 244 districts. Its aim is to prepare people for emergency situations. This is a mock practice in which people are learning how to react in case of fire, blackout or any danger.

In 2025, India took a new and important step named Operation Abhyas.This was not a normal training program – it was a country-wide civil defence mock drill, which was a live practice of how people should react in emergency situations. Fire alarm, blackout, evacuation – everything felt real. From government agencies to local schools, people at every level actively participated. The main objective of this drill was to build a strong and aware India – where every citizen is prepared even in difficult times.
What was Operation Abhyaas?
Operation Abhyaas was conducted under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Police, NDRF, SDRF, health departments, and local administration participated in it. The focus of this drill was – real-time evacuation, blackout simulation, crowd control, fire safety, and communication testing. Civil defence mock drills like Operation Abhyaas 2025 reveal how prepared India is for emergency conditions and up to what level coordination can be done.

Purpose of the Drill:
- To educate the public on how to react in an emergency situation.
- To test the coordination of agencies.To check the readiness of the infrastructure and communication system.
- To give training in situations like terror attack or earthquake.

1. Taking people to the safe zone without panic.
2. Fire mock drill where local volunteers also participated.
3. Casualty simulation in the hospital where the emergency ward was activated.
4. Electricity blackout simulation for 10–15 minutes to test emergency lights and backup systems.
5. Communication drills using walkie-talkies and backup wireless systems.
